Mrs Abubakar was abducted alongside her husband several weeks ago before the late military officer was reportedly killed by his captors.
Her rescue was achieved during intensified operations conducted by troops under Operation FASAN YAMMA.
According to military authorities, the breakthrough came after security forces increased pressure on criminal elements operating in the area. Troops eventually made contact with the bandits at Tunga Village, leading to the successful recovery of the victim.
The military disclosed that during the encounter, the bandits shot Mrs Abubakar before abandoning her and fleeing as troops advanced on their position.
Following the operation, Mrs Abubakar was immediately evacuated for medical treatment. Military authorities confirmed that she is currently receiving care at a military hospital and is responding positively to treatment.
The Abubakar’s Wife Rescue marks a significant development in ongoing efforts by security forces to combat banditry and secure the release of kidnap victims in the North-West region.
In a statement, the Armed Forces of Nigeria assured the public that all necessary support was being provided to Mrs Abubakar and her family as she continues her recovery.
Military authorities also reaffirmed their commitment to pursuing those responsible for the abduction and related attacks. Troops have continued offensive operations aimed at tracking down and neutralising the perpetrators.
The armed forces stated that efforts to eliminate terrorist and bandit networks would be sustained not only in Katsina State but across other affected parts of the country.
