Adamawa hostel robbery: armed attackers raid Adamawa Polytechnic hostel in Numan, injuring students and stealing valuables
Armed attackers invaded the female hostel of Adamawa State Polytechnic, Numan Campus, in Numan Local Government Area, Adamawa State, on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, dispossessing students of valuables in a violent early morning raid that left several injured.

The attackers, said to have been armed with guns, knives and cutlasses, stormed the hostel in the early hours of the day while students were preparing for Sallah celebrations.
During the incident, students at the Adamawa hostel robbery scene reportedly had 15 mobile phones and other personal belongings taken by the assailants in what has been described as a frightening and traumatic experience.
Witnesses said some students who attempted to resist the attackers were injured, while one student fainted due to shock caused by the assault.
The Adamawa hostel robbery has sparked concern among students, who have accused school authorities of negligence and inadequate security measures on campus.
Adamawa State Polytechnic’s Numan Campus is the institution’s second largest campus after its main site in Jimeta, Yola.
Confirming the incident, Information Officer of the polytechnic, Mr Albert Matila, said management was aware of the attack and planned to visit the affected hostel for assessment and further action.
He assured that appropriate steps would be taken after a full evaluation of the situation, as students continue to call for improved security and urgent intervention.

The disturbing incident has left many students shaken, with growing calls for a stronger and more reliable security presence on campus to prevent further attacks.
