The governor made the announcement on Thursday during a special Iftar at the Government House in Sokoto.

The event brought together journalists, social media influencers and senior government officials to deepen dialogue on governance and information dissemination.

Chairman of the NUJ in the state, Usman Binji, commended the administration’s performance across key sectors. He described the government as focused and people-oriented.

Binji highlighted progress in education, healthcare, security and rural development.

While acknowledging the administration’s efforts, Binji appealed for further support for journalists.

He requested an official vehicle, rehabilitation of the NUJ Press Centre and inclusion of NUJ leadership in relevant government committees.

Responding, Ahmed Aliyu emphasised the critical role of the media in sustaining democracy and accountability. He described journalists as vital partners in promoting transparency.

Announcing the decision, the governor said he had approved the provision of an official vehicle to support the council’s operations and enhance efficiency.

On other requests, he assured that due process would be followed, adding that matters concerning the Press Centre and committee inclusion would be handled through appropriate government channels.
