In a statement issued from his office, Hon. Adeboye praised Musa’s 15-year international career as a benchmark of professionalism and commitment to Nigerian football.

Musa, who debuted for the national team in 2010 as a teenager, leaves as the country’s most capped player with 111 appearances.

“Ahmed Musa’s journey with the Super Eagles represents everything we seek to build in Nigerian sports. From his debut as a fearless teenager to becoming Nigeria’s highest World Cup scorer, he wore the green and white with humility and pride,” Adeboye said.

The SSA highlighted Musa’s key achievements, including Nigeria’s 2013 Africa Cup of Nations victory, silver at AFCON 2023, and bronze at AFCON 2019, emphasising the forward’s impact on the international stage.

Musa scored four World Cup goals, securing his place among Africa’s most accomplished players in the tournament’s history.

Adeboye further linked Musa’s success to the goals of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, stressing that nurturing young talent through grassroots sports remains critical to national sporting excellence.

“His story demonstrates that when young players are properly supported, they can achieve global recognition while serving the nation with distinction,” Adeboye added.

Beyond statistics, Adeboye commended Musa’s leadership, influence on younger players, and role as a model of professionalism.

He described the striker as a figure whose legacy will endure in academies, communities, and future national teams.
