Funeral arrangements announced for late actor Alex Ekubo

Alex Ekubo burial arrangements released as family announces service of songs, wake and interment dates amid emotional tributes

Burial arrangements for Nigerian actor Alexx Ekubo-Okwaraeke have been released by his family, outlining a series of funeral events scheduled across Lagos and Abia State following reports of his passing after a battle with illness.

According to a statement attributed to the family and circulated on social media, the actor reportedly died on Monday, May 11, 2026, after complications arising from advanced metastatic kidney cancer.

The announcement described his final moments as peaceful, noting that he passed away at Evercare Hospital.

The family expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support received from fans, colleagues, and friends.

They described the late actor as a vibrant personality whose life left a lasting impact on the Nigerian entertainment industry.

The released Alex Ekubo burial arrangements outline a structured farewell programme beginning with a Service of Songs scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, in Lagos.

The event is expected to hold at The Monarch Event Centre, Lekki, with guests requested to appear in white attire.

A wake-keep is slated for Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the family residence in Arochukwu, Abia State.

The following day, Thursday, June 18, 2026, will host both the funeral service and interment ceremonies in his hometown, marking the final rites of passage.

The announcement also indicated that a reception would follow after the burial, bringing together family members, friends, industry colleagues, and admirers in a final celebration of his life and legacy.

In the emotional statement, the family described the late actor as a man of warmth, generosity, and faith, whose presence brought joy to many.

They also thanked the public for standing with them during what they described as a painful and difficult period.

The release of the burial arrangements has continued to trigger widespread reactions across social media, with fans sharing tributes and memories of his roles in Nollywood productions that helped define his career.

The family concluded by urging continued prayers and support as they prepare to lay him to rest, describing the ceremonies as both a farewell and a celebration of a life they say was deeply meaningful.
