Amen Imasuen tribute praises Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s 30 years in Nollywood with an emotional message celebrating his legacy and creative impact

Amen Imasuen tribute has taken centre stage as top-flight filmmaker and director, Amen Imasuen, delivers a deeply emotional message celebrating his elder brother, Ambassador Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, on his 30th anniversary behind the camera.

The filmmaker, known for blockbusters such as Agbaiwu and Son of Mercy, wrote from the United Kingdom, offering a powerful reflection on legacy, mentorship and family pride.

Amen, regarded as one of the leading creative forces shaping Edo State’s modern film narrative, expressed overwhelming gratitude to the brother he calls his master.

His tribute, packed with heartfelt admiration, highlighted Lancelot’s extraordinary three-decade journey through Nollywood’s demanding terrain.

In his moving message, Amen wrote that his brother’s creativity, persistence and patience had set him apart.

He acknowledged that Lancelot’s rise came despite operating in difficult conditions, without government support and within an environment that was often unfavourable to filmmakers.

Yet Lancelot forged ahead, striking what Amen described as “water from the rock”, a powerful expression of resilience and brilliance.

Amen also credited Lancelot with elevating their family name, stating that his brother had placed them proudly on the global map through honourable representation and unwavering commitment to excellence.

He described Lancelot’s guidance, leadership and mentorship as life-defining, shaping him both as a filmmaker and as a man.

The filmmaker’s emotional tone peaked when he thanked his brother “screamingly”, appreciating the enormous sacrifices and influence that have contributed to his own growth.

He expressed hope that the grace of greatness would continue to shine upon Lancelot, allowing his legacy to inspire future generations.
