‘An end?!’ Serena Williams retires with an injury at the 2021 Wimbledon Championship (Video)

Tennis leg end Serena Willaims is forced to retire after suffering an injury at the ongoing 2021 Wimbledon Championship.

Serena Williams was in her first round match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich at the prestigious Wimbledon Tennis Championship when she signaled that she can’t continue with the match during the coarse of the game.

It was later revealed that Serena has suffered an injury which in the coarse of the game forcing her to pull out of the championship making it a walkover for her opponent Aliaksandra Sasnovich to progress to the next stage of the competition.

The crowd gave the 7 times Women’s Single Wimbledon champion a standing ovation as she struggles to walk out of the court on her own. Serena Williams waved at all the corners of the stadium signaling an end of an era for her.

The official Instagram site for Wimbledon made the announcement on its wall by posting a video of Serena’s injury with the caption, “Our seven-time singles champion is forced to retire from The Championships 2021 through injury. We’re heartbroken for you, @serenawilliams“

Serena Williams won her first Wimbledon title in 2002 and has so far participated in the championship 20 times winning 7 out of the 20. She has so far won 23 Grand Slam Singles titles and was chasing her 24th Grand Slam title before the injury.
