The declaration was made by Hon Taofik Abdulsalam, Chairman of the APC Gubernatorial and House of Assembly Primary Elections Committee in Oyo State, during a press briefing held at the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan on Wednesday.
APC Oyo primary aspirants cleared confirmation came ahead of the party’s governorship primary scheduled for today, as internal processes reached their final stage.
Abdulsalam, a former Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, stated that all aspirants who obtained nomination forms were duly screened and cleared to participate in the exercise.
He dismissed reports suggesting any form of disqualification, insisting that the party remained fully prepared to conduct a credible and transparent primary election.
“All the aspirants were cleared. No aspirant was disqualified,” Abdulsalam said.
He added that the party leadership was committed to ensuring an orderly process that would strengthen APC’s chances of reclaiming power in Oyo State in the 2027 general elections.
According to him, the outcome of the primary election would be handled and validated by the party’s national leadership, in line with established procedures.
“We are prepared to put in the next government in Oyo State,” he stated.
Political observers note that 11 aspirants are contesting under the APC platform, drawn from different geopolitical zones within the state.
The aspirants include Senator Sharafadeen Alli, Bayo Adelabu, Dr Adewale Kareem, Barrister Akeem Agbaje, Engineer Akeem Alao, Dr Ayobami Lam-Adesina, Prince Asanke Asatola, and Ololade Usman, all from Ibadan.
Others are Senator Abdulfatai Buhari from Ogbomoso, Dr Muyiwa Gbadegesin and Engineer Rauf Olaniyan from the Oke Ogun axis.
