In similar manner as Freelanews recently reported Otunba Gbenga Daniel’s recognition by TASUED (Read story here – TASUED commends Gbenga Daniel’s foresight), the Lagos State Branch of The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by Engr. Ayotunde Ogunnoiki, on Thursday August 26, 2021, honoured the two-term former governor of Ogun State for his contribution to the engineering profession, Freelanews reports.

Daniel, the founder/Chairman of Krestal Laurel Ltd, received a prestigious Award for Excellence contribution to the advancement and growth of the engineering profession.

Engr. Babagana Mohammed, the National President of the NSE, who was thrilled to deliver the award, lauded the former governor’s outstanding service, which he said merited the honor.

The award presentation took place at the secretariat of the society in the University of Lagos.

Gbenga Daniel, also known as OGD, is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (FNSE) and the Nigerian Academy of Engineering (FAEng).

Apart from being an engineer and politician, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has demonstrated tremendous entrepreneurial prowess by establishing Conference Hotel & Suites, which has branches in Abeokuta, Sagamu, and Ijebu Ode, all in Ogun State, and provides world-class comfort and luxury—a home away from home.

This is a feat which to many people is a rarity in the Nigerian political space, to have a former governor excel as an entrepreneur.

OGD is also a member of the prestigious Ikoyi Club, Egbe Bobakeye of Ijebuland, Lagos Country Club, Lions Club International, and Metropolitan Club.

The former governor has received religious titles from both Christian and Muslim societies respectively, which include: Asiwaju of Remo Christians, IMA Distinguished Man of the Year, Islamic Movement for Africa (IMA), (2004), Aare Musulumi of Ipokia Muslim Community, Amuludun Adeen of Ikija, Abeokuta Muslim Community, just to mention a few.

OGD holds several chieftaincy titles including Fesojoye Of Ile-Ife, Aare Asoludero Of Makun, Sagamu, Otunba Adeoti Of Omu, Ijebuland, Otunba Obalofin Of Ijebuland, Arole Of Remoland, Olu Nla Of Egbaland, Oganla Of Yewaland, Aare Ajibosin Of Owu Kingdom, Asoju Oba Of Ijesaland, Aemenre Of Iuleha, Edo State, Oke-Osisi Of Obinugwu, Imo State, Enyi-Di-Ora-Nma 1 Of Ndigbo, and Fiwajoye of Ipokia, Egbadoland, Ogun State amongst others.

He is also the founder of Political Academy (POLA) located in Shagamu, Ogun State, which caters for effective and positive politicking.

He was the Chairman of Nigeria/Finland Business Council and one-time Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University, Kashere, Gombe State.

All these set His Excellency, Otunba Gbenga Daniel apart as he was one time awarded the most industrious former governor.

He is also a great man of a rich heritage, who has done good for himself and has also had uncommon achievements that had given the younger generation a new facelift.

Otunba Gbenga Daniel said in his speech that was delivered by Engr. Dideolu Falobi that Nigerian engineers should ensure that they take the bull by the horn and encourage, support, persuade, or even subtly push all the MDAs of the Federal Government of Nigeria to implement the executive orders of the FG as they relate to the profession to the letter.
