Nigerian singer and actor Bankole Wellington, popularly known as Banky W, has offered a candid insight into his relationship with wife Adesua Etomi, revealing a defining moment that shaped their journey to marriage.

Speaking during an interview with Teju Babyface, Banky W recounted how he became convinced early on that Adesua Etomi was his life partner, even when she did not initially share the same conviction.
He explained that after several unsuccessful attempts to move the relationship forward, he chose to step back emotionally and turn to prayer.
In what he described as a deeply personal decision, he resolved not to raise the matter again unless she arrived at the same conclusion independently.
Banky W said he told God that if the relationship was meant to be, Adesua Etomi would come to recognise it on her own.
That turning point eventually came when she contacted him with a declaration that stunned yet affirmed his long-held belief.
According to Banky W, the moment was calm but powerful, as he had already spent over a year certain of their future together, waiting patiently for her to reach the same clarity.

She noted that despite nearly a decade together, their connection remains strong in simple, intimate ways, including holding hands unconsciously and maintaining physical closeness even in sleep.
Adesua Etomi revealed that before meeting her husband, she had hoped not to marry a musician, a pastor, or a politician, yet found herself married to someone who embodies all three roles.
The statement added a layer of humour and perspective to their shared story.
Their relationship has also weathered public scrutiny. In 2023, rumours of infidelity surfaced, alleging that Banky W had been involved with another woman.
The claims were widely circulated but remained unsubstantiated.
Despite such challenges, the couple has continued to project resilience.
On their eighth wedding anniversary, Adesua Etomi publicly expressed a desire to spend decades with her husband, while Banky W reaffirmed the strength and permanence of their union, dismissing earlier scepticism about their marriage.
Married in 2017, the couple has experienced both joy and loss. They revealed a past miscarriage involving twins before welcoming their first son in 2021 and a second child in 2024.
