Calvin Bassey says Erling Haaland is “too strong” after Fulham’s 5–4 defeat, as the Bassey Haaland duel highlights the striker’s 100th Premier League goal.

Fulham defender Calvin Bassey said Manchester City striker Erling Haaland was “too strong” after their physical battle during Tuesday’s 5–4 Premier League defeat at Craven Cottage in London, where Haaland scored his 100th league goal in a dramatic nine-goal contest.

The Bassey Haaland clash quickly became one of the night’s defining talking points.

Calvin Bassey, who featured prominently in several demanding duels with Erling Haaland, addressed supporters on his Snapchat account after the match.

When a fan suggested he had exposed supposed weaknesses in Haaland’s strength, Bassey immediately dismissed the idea, insisting the Norwegian forward possessed overwhelming physical power.

Erling Haaland reached his milestone in only 111 Premier League matches, making him the fastest player to hit the 100-goal mark, surpassing Alan Shearer’s previous record.

His opener, driven in first time from a Jeremy Doku cross in the seventeenth minute, also ended a short run of three matches without scoring.

Manchester City raced into a 5–1 lead before Fulham produced a spirited late fightback that injected new energy into the contest.

Nigerian internationals Samuel Chukwueze and Alex Iwobi were central to the resurgence, with Chukwueze scoring twice in six minutes and Iwobi bending in a superb 20-yard strike that ignited the home crowd.

Despite Fulham reducing the deficit to a single goal, Manchester City held firm to secure maximum points and move within two of league leaders Arsenal.

The match showcased both City’s ruthless efficiency and Fulham’s resilience, while Bassey’s candid admission added a striking human layer to a night already rich with intensity and spectacle.
