Funke Akindele’s ‘Behind The Scenes’ sets a new Nollywood record, earning over N2.5bn domestically and $440,000 internationally
FilmOne Entertainment has announced that Funke Akindele’s latest film, Behind The Scenes, has achieved record-breaking box office success across Nigeria and select international markets.

The film has grossed over N2,505,882,930 domestically, establishing it as the highest-grossing Nigerian film of all time in West Africa.
The achievement surpasses Akindele’s previous hit, Everybody Loves Jenifa, which ended its theatrical run in 2024 with N1,882,549,548.
Analysts note that Behind The Scenes significantly expands the commercial ceiling for Nollywood theatrical releases.
Internationally, the film has performed strongly in the United Kingdom, United States, and Canada, earning approximately $440,000, making it the highest-grossing Nollywood release outside Africa.
Commenting on the milestone, Kene Okwuosa, Group CEO of Filmhouse Group, which includes FilmOne Entertainment, Filmhouse Cinemas, and FilmOne Studios, described the performance as “a defining moment for FilmOne Entertainment and for Nollywood’s theatrical business.”
“These results reflect what is possible when ambitious storytelling is matched with disciplined, globally aligned distribution. We are proud to be scaling African stories in ways that compete credibly on the world stage,” Okwuosa added.
The film marks the first time FilmOne Entertainment has managed distribution across both Nigeria and all major international markets.
Last year’s releases were limited to domestic distribution, with international territories handled separately.
Okwuosa explained that the unified rollout enabled tighter coordination, stronger market visibility, and more consistent commercial execution across regions.
FilmOne Entertainment aligned release timing, cinema partnerships, and diaspora engagement to sustain international momentum and secure Behind The Scenes as a cultural conversation beyond Nigeria’s borders.
