Biola Adebayo apology interview sparks reactions as she distances herself from Baba Ijesha and reaffirms stance against rape

Nollywood actress and media personality Biola Adebayo has issued a public apology following backlash over her recent interview with convicted actor Baba Ijesha, clarifying that she does not support sexual abuse in any form.

In a statement shared online on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, Adebayo said she had expected Baba Ijesha to use the platform to apologise to the public but was disappointed by the outcome.

She stressed that the interview was not intended to endorse his position or question the gravity of the offence, but rather to provide a platform for engagement.

“I am a mother. I protect the girl child. I am against rape and will never enable anybody,” she said, reaffirming her stance.

The Biola Adebayo apology interview also included a direct apology to fellow actress Iyabo Ojo, amid claims that the programme was designed to undermine her.

Adebayo dismissed the allegation, insisting that her platform is open to both popular and controversial figures, regardless of public sentiment.

“The platform is for the people you like and the people you do not like,” she explained, adding that her intention was never to discredit anyone.

She further noted that during the interview, she challenged Baba Ijesha with tough questions, pointing out that even the interviewee acknowledged the pressure during the session.

Responding to critics, Adebayo referenced previous interviews on her platform, including one with Seun Egbegbe, which she said was well received by audiences.

The Biola Adebayo apology interview has sparked widespread reactions online, with many users debating the ethics of giving a platform to controversial figures, particularly in cases involving sensitive issues such as sexual violence.
