retirement of Bishops Abioye and Aremu

Bishops Abioye and Aremu will retire from Winners Chapel in 2024 after decades of service, following the church’s new retirement age policy.

[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ishops David Abioye and Thomas Aremu of Winners Chapel will retire in October 2024, following a church mandate lowering the retirement age from 60 to 55.

Both leaders have served for over three decades and will have valedictory services held at their respective churches.

Bishops David Abioye and Thomas Aremu, two long-serving vice presidents of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), are set to retire after serving for over four and three decades, respectively.

Their planned retirement aligns with the church’s recently revised operational manual, The Mandate, which lowered the retirement age from 60 to 55.

Bishop Abioye, aged 63, and Bishop Aremu, aged 67, are expected to step down during Bishop David Oyedepo’s birthday celebration.

According to sources within the church, only Bishop Oyedepo, the founder, is exempt from the new rule and can serve for life. Future leaders will be permitted to serve one or two seven-year terms, pending approval from the Board of Trustees.

Bishop Abioye, Senior Pastor of Living Faith Church, Goshen City, Abuja, will have his farewell service on Friday, October 18, 2024, at his Durumi church in Abuja.

Bishop Aremu’s service is scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at LFC Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Abioye met Bishop Oyedepo in 1979 and led one of the church’s pioneer branches in 1987, later being consecrated as bishop in 1993 at the age of 32.

Aremu, who transitioned from a successful career in accounting to full-time ministry, was among the seven bishops consecrated in November 1999 at Garden of Faith, Kaduna.

The church’s media team has yet to provide official comments on the retirements.
