Nigeria’s General Aviation Terminal, GAT One, Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMA) Ikeja says it has recorded passenger traffic of 1,235,709 at reopening of flight operations in July 2020 to June 2021.

GAT Terminal Manager, Mr. Adekunle Aderibigbe in a chat with reporters revealed that between July 2020 and June 2021 the terminal recorded 14,079 aircraft movements.

Aderibigbe said, at the restart of operations after the eased lockdown, the passenger turnout was low but now the turnout of passenger had improved significantly, “we have appreciable turn out of passengers compare to last year during the restart of activities”.

He explained that, since the covid pandemic, activities within the terminal have been sanitized from the entrance and exit gates of the terminal.

The Terminal Manager, appealed to passengers to wear face masks when coming to the airport and observe physical distancing and any who refuses to adhere strictly to the Covid safety protocols would be denied access to the terminal building.

Explaining further, Mr. Aderibigbe said, the authority had stopped ticketing agents from coming into the terminal building to reduce crowd and touting as passengers have been encouraged to go online to buy tickets instead of patronizing touts.

On the parking of vehicles, he said, sanity had returned to the car park with the automation system, adding that, no individual would no longer be allowed to park their vehicles at the car park indiscriminately.

He lamented that security escorts have continued to breach the protocol parking indiscriminately in unauthorized areas at the airport.
