Chevron Nigeria reaffirms commitment to Niger Delta development, pledging collaboration with NDDC and Delta Government on key infrastructure projects

Chevron Nigeria Limited, operator of the joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, has reaffirmed its commitment to socio-economic progress in the Niger Delta, pledging continued collaboration with the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Delta State Government on regional infrastructure initiatives.

The assurance was given by the Director and Chief Operating Officer of Chevron Nigeria and Mid-Africa Region, Segun Kuteyi, during a joint visit by officials of Chevron Nigeria Limited and the Niger Delta Development Commission to the Delta State Government in Asaba.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer for Chevron Nigeria and the Mid-Africa Region, Olusoga Oduselu, the meeting focused on strengthening cooperation around a proposed road project aimed at improving connectivity in the region.

Kuteyi emphasised that the planned infrastructure development could significantly boost economic activity and enhance transportation links within the Niger Delta.

He also underscored the importance of sustained coordination with the Delta State Government throughout the lifecycle of the project.

“Chevron Nigeria Limited believes that a collaborative approach with various stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and private sector partners, will deliver the best value,” Kuteyi said.

He noted that the Niger Delta Development Commission, as the initiator of the project, remains a critical stakeholder in the initiative.

The statement further highlighted that Nigeria’s Road Infrastructure Development and Refurbishment Investment Tax Credit Scheme provides a framework that could encourage private sector participation in infrastructure development.
