Southern state Governors led by Lagos and River state governors are demanding Value Added Tax [VAT] to be paid directly to the state tax collection authorities instead of the Federal Inland Revenue Services [FIRS].
Despite the Federal High Court having issued an order restraining FIRS from collecting VAT, FIRS insist it will collect taxes in anticipation of obtaining a stay of execution in the coming days.
This movement has caused a lot of confusions for some firms as they don’t know where to remit this month’s VAT.
