With the price currently sitting at N650 per Kg, a full 12.5kg at N8,125 the Marketers of Liquefied Petroleum Gas have warned that the price of cooking gas may increase to N10,000 by December 2021.
Many Nigerians are returning to utilizing firewood, sawdust, charcoal, and other unrefined energy sources for cooking, according to LPG marketers presenting at a Pan-African forum called Platforms Africa on Saturday, October 9.
Mr Bassey Essien, Executive Secretary of the National Association of LPG Marketers, urged the government to review the recently implemented import charges and VAT.
He said if the advice is not heeded “the price of cooking gas may as well reach N10,000 for a 12.5kg cylinder.”
However, he said marketers are discussing with government officials on how the situation could be addressed.
