A Federal High Court in Lagos orders interim forfeiture of Pretty Mike’s Victoria Island nightclub over alleged drug storage and distribution

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the interim forfeiture of a Victoria Island property belonging to popular entertainer Pretty Mike, following allegations that the premises were used for drug storage and distribution.

Justice Musa Kakaki granted the order on Tuesday after hearing an ex parte motion filed by counsel to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Mr. Buhari Abdulahi.

The property, located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, and operating as Proxy Lagos Night Club, was said to have been used to store 169 cylinders (384.662 kilograms) of nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and 200 grams of cannabis sativa.

According to court filings, the NDLEA alleged that the property is owned by Mike Nwalie (popularly known as Pretty Mike) and Joachim Hillary, who allegedly used the club to store and distribute the controlled substances ahead of a planned drug-themed party.

Counsel for the NDLEA, Abdulahi, told the court that the order was necessary to preserve the property as an instrumentality of crime pending the conclusion of investigations. He added that the forfeiture would not prejudice any party.

In an affidavit by Deputy Commander of Narcotics, Nasiru Garba Bungudu, the agency stated that it had received credible intelligence in October 2025 about the planned drug event at the nightclub.

Following days of surveillance, NDLEA operatives raided the club on October 26, 2025, around midnight, seizing the substances and arresting over 200 people, including the two respondents.

Laboratory analysis later confirmed that the substances recovered were controlled drugs, according to the agency’s submission.

The NDLEA further alleged that Proxy Night Club had been a hub for drug abuse and illegal trade, with the owner’s knowledge and consent.

After reviewing the application and exhibits, Justice Kakaki granted the interim forfeiture order and directed that all activities at the nightclub remain suspended pending further investigation.

The case was adjourned until January 28, 2026, for further hearing.
