The legal practitioner, who is also the daughter of Fuji music icon King Wasiu Ayinde Marshall, made the declaration on Tuesday via her official Instagram account, pledging to serve her constituency with a focus on youth representation and community development.
“I am excited to share that I, Barr. Damilola Ayinde Marshal, am stepping forward to serve the good people of Surulere Constituency 2 at the Lagos State House of Assembly,” she said.
Marshal, who has practised law for over a decade, said her professional background has equipped her with a strong understanding of governance and justice. She described herself as “a woman of excellence and results,” adding that she is prepared to deliver impactful representation.
She further emphasised her intention to champion youth interests, describing her candidacy as a timely and empowering move. “I promise to be the voice of the youths in the House,” she stated, in what observers see as a defining message of her campaign.
The aspirant is expected to succeed the incumbent lawmaker, Mosunmola Rotimi Sangodara, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
Marshal holds a law degree from North America University, Houdegbe, Cotonou, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2015. She later obtained a Master of Laws degree from the University of Lagos in 2022.
Her political trajectory gained momentum following her appointment as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism in May 2024 by Governor Sanwo-Olu, a move that drew public attention after her father publicly expressed gratitude during a high-profile royal event.
