Dangote Petroleum Refinery has cut Dangote petrol prices below the cost of imported fuel, and oil marketers have responded by lifting more petrol, diesel and aviation fuel from the plant for delivery through Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt.

The Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria said in its latest Energy Bulletin that the refinery’s gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit was ₦1,350 a litre on 17 September 2026.

Estimated import parity into tanks at the NPSC and ASPM jetty in Apapa was ₦1,364.02 to ₦1,365.02 a litre. The seven day average was higher still, at ₦1,371.92.

On Monday, 21 September, the refinery reduced the gantry price again, to ₦1,325 a litre, a gap of about ₦40 on that import range.

Landing cost had touched about ₦1,420 a litre on 14 September before easing to around ₦1,365.

The spread was wider on diesel. Dangote’s gantry price was ₦1,850 a litre, against an estimated spot landed cost of ₦1,933.56 and a seven day average of ₦1,934.91.

MEMAN said its parity sums include international product prices, freight, finance, port charges, statutory levies and the exchange rate.

The seven day workings used an average of ₦1,328.65 to the dollar. Brent crude averaged $105.50 a barrel.

Coastal shipping records monitored by Petroleumprice.ng showed about 219,000 metric tonnes of petrol, diesel, jet fuel and other products moving through Lagos, Warri and Port Harcourt between 14 and 20 September. Several cargoes were loaded at Dangote.

In Lagos, Um Balwa lifted 20,000 tonnes of diesel for PPMC. Ashabi carried 15,000 tonnes of Jet A1 and 10,000 tonnes of diesel for Ardova and CITA. SL Aremu loaded 26,500 tonnes of aviation fuel for Sahara.

In Warri, Stellar delivered 15,000 tonnes of diesel for Rain Oil after loading at the refinery. In Port Harcourt, Zonda was listed as loading 20,000 tonnes of diesel from Dangote for Pivot Energy.

Marketers are still bringing in cargoes from other sources. Local barrels are simply taking a larger share while the price gap holds.

Some of that gap has reached the pump. Checks on Monday found outlets along the Lagos Ibadan Expressway selling petrol below ₦1,400 a litre, at about ₦1,370 to ₦1,390.

That is modest relief after weeks of high pump prices, not a collapse in the market. The sharp fact for marketers is simpler. For now, buying from Dangote is cheaper than bringing the same products in from abroad.
