Police found the Hindu Yuva Vahini leader’s body in a canal after he was allegedly shot inside his Fortuner, with a land dispute among suspected motives

Hindu Yuva Vahini leader Dhirendra Pratap Singh was shot dead in Lucknow, India, with police later recovering his body from a canal in the Dubagga police station area as investigators examined a possible land dispute and suspected involvement by his driver.

Singh was allegedly killed inside his Toyota Fortuner before his body was dumped into the canal near Dubagga, according to preliminary information reported by India Today.

A land dispute is among the possible motives being examined by investigators, although police have not yet established a definitive reason for the murder.

Singh was a leader of the Hindu Yuva Vahini, a pro-Hindu youth organisation founded by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

The organisation has historically been associated with the Uttar Pradesh politician and has been involved in Hindu nationalist activities in the state.

Singh originally hailed from Unnao but had been living in the PGI area of Lucknow.

The circumstances surrounding his final movements remain under investigation.

According to the preliminary account, Singh was inside his Fortuner when the fatal shooting occurred. His body was subsequently taken to the canal area, where it was dumped before being discovered by authorities.

The alleged sequence has left investigators examining whether the killing was premeditated and whether more than one person was involved.

Police have not publicly identified any suspect as responsible for the murder, and the driver’s alleged involvement remains an investigative line rather than an established fact.
