The Bauchi State Government has appealed to the Federal Government not to allow Nigerians abroad return to the country in a bid to curtail the spread of COVID 19 in communities across the state

Speaking to journalists on COVID 19 Risk Communication in Bauchi, the Executive Chairman of Bauchi State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Rilwanu Mohammed further called on the Federal government to restrict movements in and out of the country to end the COVID-19 spread.

“The virus moves as individuals continue to move around, the transmission continues to move across the country with increasing cases.

“They are in places they want to be because they don’t want to develop our country, so allow them to remain there and not to bring more problems to us.

“We are pleading with the Federal Government not to return it’s nationals abroad for the country to fight the spread of the virus into our communities.

“They should remain wherever they are, for now, the denial to accept that COVID 19 is real was what caused lots of nations the problems they are facing today on the spread of the virus.

“Those in Bauchi that tested negative had to be tested for the second time because they are high-risk contacts.

“If we lockdown for two weeks, we will break the transmission,” he explained.

He urged Media organizations to use various local dialects to sensitize the general public on COVID 19 to end the spread using facts, relevant and accurate data.
