Tragedy came knocking at the home of a lawyer on February 4, 2020, after an aspiring artiste, 23-year-old Michael Ohkide, stabbed his parents to death.

Not done, the alleged drug addict also stabbed his sister to within an inch of her life and took to his heels.

The incident happened on the evening of the fateful while Barr. Clement Okhide and his wife Toyin were in their apartment on Afeez Gbadamosi Street in the Ejigbo area of Lagos. His parents died from the stab wounds.

Though his sister, Mary, didn’t die, but wasn’t lucky as she was found in a pool of her blood and was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Michael, who is the first child out of three children, in now on the run. It is not clear what led him to stab his family members but residents who know him said it might be linked to his drug habits. They claim Michael has been a problematic son who caused his parents grief and frustrated all their efforts to mould him into a responsible man.

Those close to the family also claim that Michael is confrontational and doesn’t spare anyone who tries to advise him to change his ways.

On the day he killed his parents, he was seen hurriedly leaving the compound in just his boxers. This raised brows but no one suspected he would have gone as far as killing his parents.

Neighbours were alerted to his actions when they heard his wounded sister’s screams. They then went into the house to find the parents and their daughter lying in blood.

The body of the father, Barr. Clement Okhide, 60, was found in the kitchen pantry with blood all around him. Also, there was blood splattered all over the kitchen. His wife was found in one of the rooms upstairs.

Policemen from the Ejigbo division, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Olabisi Okuwobi, responded to the scene when they got the report and evacuated the bodies to the morgue. Efforts are being made to catch the fleeing son.
