The team, fresh off a stunning 78–64 win over Mali, clinched their fifth consecutive AfroBasket title and seventh overall further cementing their dominance in African women’s basketball.

Vice President Kashim Shettima, standing in for President Bola Tinubu, praised D’Tigress for their resilience and dedication.

“Your victory is not just a sporting achievement it is a national triumph and a symbol of what Nigerian women can accomplish,” Shettima said.

The First Lady lauded the basketball champions for being powerful role models, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting women in sports.
