Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru has executed a comprehensive cabinet reshuffle, redeploying commissioners to enhance governance and advance the People’s Charter of Needs agenda

In Abakaliki on Tuesday, 30 June 2026, Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru announced a significant cabinet reshuffle aimed at repositioning his administration for improved performance and service delivery to the people of the state.

The move, revealed after a State Executive Council meeting, followed the swearing-in of two new commissioners, Omari Omaka and Sylvester Nwenu Nwite, alongside the inauguration of Felix Onyekachi Njoku as Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Mobilisation.

Briefing journalists, Commissioner for Information and State Orientation Ikeuwa Omebeh explained that the reshuffle seeks to align expertise with key portfolios.

Governor Nwifuru, who assumed office with a focus on development, urged the officials to embrace their roles with dedication.

“This is about deploying people to ministries where their expertise and experience can be better utilised in the interest of the state,” Omebeh stated, emphasising that the changes were not driven by poor performance but by a desire for greater efficiency.

Under the new structure, Omari Omaka takes charge of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, while Sylvester Nwenu Nwite heads the Ministry of Environment.

Several redeployments followed: Chidiebere Onyia moves from Solid Mineral Development to Youth and Sports Development; Ajuka Obasi Nwogo shifts from Market Development to Skill Acquisition; Prince Richard Idike relocates from Youth and Sports Development to Capital City and Urban Development; and Sunday Elechi Inyima transfers from Capital City and Urban Development to Project Monitoring.

Further changes include Ngozi Obichukwu moving from Aviation to Special Projects, Magnus Chinedu Nka from Water Resources to Solid Mineral Development, Victor Uzoma Chukwu from Environment to Water Resources, and Okwu Oko Udu assuming leadership of Market Development.

A number of commissioners, including Ben Uruchi Odoh in Justice and Ikeuwa Omebeh in Information and State Orientation, retained their positions.

The governor directed immediate completion of all handing-over processes by the close of work on Tuesday, 30 June 2026.

Omebeh clarified that the Ministry of Aviation would continue under its Permanent Secretary pending further directives, confirming it had not been abolished.

This reshuffle reflects Governor Nwifuru’s ongoing commitment to effective governance, building on earlier appointments and his administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

By matching professional backgrounds to strategic roles, the changes are expected to inject renewed energy into policy implementation across Ebonyi State.
