Ebonyi police rescue highlights major breakthroughs as officers free an abducted victim and foil an armed robbery attempt.

Ebonyi police rescue operations have earned praise after officers freed a kidnapped man tied up inside a hotel toilet in the Ezzangbo axis of Ohaukwu LGA.

The victim, Thank-God Obasi, had been abducted by a syndicate demanding a ransom of ₦5 million. Police spokesperson SP Joshua Ukandu said the rescue followed careful intelligence gathering that led operatives to the kidnappers’ hideout, where Obasi was found unharmed and three suspects were arrested.

The Ebonyi police rescue underscores the Command’s renewed drive against violent crime. Ukandu identified the suspects as Uchenna Ogbozuru, Ebuka Ejiogu and Chizoba Idenyi Ogwa, adding that investigations were advancing swiftly to ensure prosecution.

In a separate operation, the Command also foiled an armed robbery along the Ehamufu–Nkalagu Road in Ishielu LGA. Officers on patrol heard distress calls and gunfire, prompting an urgent response. They discovered a motorcyclist, Ali Solomon, struggling with three armed men.

When confronted, the attackers opened fire but fled, leaving one neutralised at the scene. Police recovered an AK-47 rifle with 10 rounds of ammunition, a decisive gain in the fight against armed crime.

Ukandu reaffirmed Commissioner of Police Adaku Uche-Anya’s commitment to safeguarding residents. He stressed that the Command would continue to ensure there was no refuge for criminal groups within Ebonyi, describing the recent successes as a powerful sign of improving security.
