Nigeria’s flag bearers to the CAF Champions League, Enyimba international FC of Aba and Remo Stars have all crashed out of the league.
Nigeria Premier League, NPL champions, Enyimba FC were sent packing from the CAF Champions League after playing a goalless draw with visiting Ahly Benghazi of Libya in Aba on Sunday.
The People’s Elephants returned home with a strong hope after playing out 3-4 with the Libya side Ahli Benghazi.
Playing at the Enyimba Stadium in Aba, the host dominated the proceedings but Ahli came up with a plan to shut out the attacking threats of the host.
The referee added 6 minutes but the former African champions were unable to score the needed goal as they crashed out of the competition 4-3 on aggregate.
Remo Stars were shown the exit by Meadeama SC of Ghana at the Ikenne Stadium , despite their narrow escape from the Ghana Premier League champions last weekend in Cape Coast.
Remo Stars bowed via penalty shootout 3-2 after full time proceedings ended 1-1 in Ikenne.
