The seminar, titled Building Trust and Integrity: The Foundation of Ethical Business and Professional Practice, held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at Keystone Bank Hall, Rotary Centre 8, Ladoke Akintola Crescent, GRA, Ikeja, commenced at 10:00 a.m. and featured Professor Oseni Taiwo Afisi as keynote speaker.
In his presentation, Professor Afisi examined the central role of ethics in decision-making and institutional credibility, urging professionals to see integrity not as an abstract ideal but as a daily operational requirement.
He emphasised that trust remains the currency that sustains organisations, professions and societies over time.
The seminar brought together business leaders, professionals and ethics advocates to exchange ideas on promoting transparency, accountability and responsible leadership within organisations.
Discussions centred on real-life case studies of ethical dilemmas in business, strategies for strengthening internal governance structures, and practical methods for building and sustaining stakeholder trust.
Organised under the leadership of the committee chair, Past President Nkeiruka Akarutu Balogun, and the committee secretary, Rotarian Emeka Nebechi, the programme highlighted actionable approaches to ethical conduct rather than theoretical prescriptions alone.
Chair of the Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Rotarian Winifred Ebiye, coordinated communications for the event and ensured wide public engagement, reinforcing the committee’s objective of extending the conversation on ethics beyond the seminar hall.
Participants stressed that ethical conduct is critical to long-term organisational credibility and the development of durable professional relationships, particularly in an increasingly complex business environment.
Many noted that ethical lapses, once normalised, often erode public confidence and institutional stability.
In a practical demonstration of the committee’s commitment to impact, resource materials were distributed to participants to support continued learning and application of ethical principles in their respective fields.
The seminar concluded with a strong call to action, urging professionals in both the private and public sectors to prioritise integrity, transparency and accountability in their daily operations.
