Faithia Balogun Cinema Sabotage claims emerge as the actress accuses cinemas of frustrating screenings of her movie ‘Efunroye’

Nigerian actress and filmmaker Faithia Balogun has publicly accused cinema operators of sabotaging the screening of her movie, Efunroye, while lamenting the growing financial burden attached to the project.

The actress made the emotional claims in a social media post in which she alleged that cinema management had been frustrating efforts by her fans to watch the film by assigning unfavourable screening times.

According to Faithia Balogun, some cinemas scheduled the movie for midnight screenings, a move she described as unfair and damaging to the success of the project.

“Nigerians help me ooo, cinema management want to kill me with debt,” the actress wrote. “They have been sabotaging my movie ‘Efunroye’ in cinemas. They are not allowing my fans to watch my movie.”

The actress disclosed that she borrowed money to finance the production and warned that she might publicly identify individuals she believes are behind the alleged sabotage.

Faithia Balogun said the situation had become unbearable as she struggled with mounting debt linked to the film’s production and distribution.

“I can’t keep quiet and die in debt,” she added while urging fans to continue supporting the movie at cinemas nationwide.

The powerful outburst quickly generated reactions across social media, with supporters expressing concern over the challenges filmmakers face within Nigeria’s cinema distribution system.

Some fans also rallied behind the actress by encouraging audiences to continue watching Efunroye despite the controversy surrounding its screening schedule.

The development has once again sparked conversations within the entertainment industry about cinema access, screening allocations and the financial risks associated with independent film production in Nigeria.
