Faithia Balogun mourns mother

Nollywood actress Faithia Balogun mourns her mother’s death, revealed shortly after her 55th birthday, sharing her grief with fans online

Nollywood actress and filmmaker Faithia Balogun announced the death of her mother hours after celebrating her 55th birthday. The news was shared on Monday, February 9, 2026, via her official social media page.

Balogun revealed that her mother had passed away on the eve of her birthday, but the information was withheld from her by family members.

She described her mother as her “cheerleader, prayer warrior, best friend, and gist partner,” and said the reality of the loss had yet to fully dawn on her.

“Unbeknownst to me, my beloved mother died on the eve of my party and the news was cruelly kept away from me,” Balogun wrote.

“Whilst I have taken solace in Allah (SWT), the Williams family has decided to keep things very private for now. Your love and prayers will mean a lot to me and my siblings this period. Burial details will be announced later.”

The star-studded birthday party, held on Sunday, February 4, was attended by notable Nollywood personalities including Funke Akindele, Malaika, Pasuma, Kazim Adeoti, Regina Chukwu, Fausat Balogun, and Shaffy Bello.

Photos from the event circulated widely online, contrasting sharply with the private grief Balogun later shared.

Balogun, formerly married to actor Saidi Balogun, has been active in the Nollywood industry as both an actress and filmmaker. She recently promoted her upcoming movie, Efunroye, highlighting the historical and powerful character of Efunroye Tinubu.

Fans and colleagues responded with condolences and messages of support on social media. One follower wrote: “May her sweet and gentle soul rest in eternal perfect peace,” while another commented: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. May Allah console you and give you the serenity to bear this loss.”
