Nigeria’s Falconets defeat Ghana 3-0 to win the WAFU B U20 Girls Tournament in Benin Republic, with Akekoromowei and Kareem among the scorers

Goals from Janet Akekoromowei and Ramotalahi Kareem set the tone for the Nigerians, who were already 2-0 up before the 25th minute, courtesy of strikes by Akekoromowei (17th minute) and Alaba Olabiyi (24th minute).

Akekoromowei had also netted twice in Nigeria’s 3-1 loss to Ghana on Saturday, while Kareem secured a brace against the hosts on Sunday, underlining their key roles in the team’s attack.

Victory propelled the Falconets to nine points and a plus-eight goal difference, having scored three goals in each of their three games.

Ghana’s Princesses finished second with six points after victories over the host nation.

The final group-stage fixture against the Bénin Republic on Wednesday is largely ceremonial, as Nigeria have already secured the trophy.

With this triumph, the Falconets continue to assert their dominance in West African women’s youth football, showcasing a blend of attacking flair and clinical finishing that promises bright prospects for the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers.
