A fan has publicly criticised Nollywood actress and producer Toyin Abraham over her casting choices and appealed for an end to any lingering tension with Funke Akindele.
In a post directed at Abraham, the user expressed concern that students from established film schools such as PEFTI are being overlooked in favour of popular TikTokers given roles in major productions.
“Why are students from known film schools like PEFTI not getting good roles like those TikTokers you gave roles? Aren’t they trained enough or what exactly is happening?” the fan wrote.
The post also raised the issue of nepotism in the industry, noting that many new actresses appear to secure opportunities through family or personal connections rather than formal training.
The fan acknowledged the commercial appeal of TikTok personalities but argued that their limited acting experience contributes to criticism of some films.
“I actually understand you use TikTokers because of their fame but they are not dedicated actors and actresses. That’s why some people criticise your movies because that’s not what they are expecting,” the message stated.
The fan further urged Abraham to resolve any differences with Funke Akindele, warning against allowing fan propaganda to deepen divisions between senior industry figures.
“I will love you to put an end to any rift you have with Funke Akindele. Please don’t allow fans’ propaganda to get between the two of you,” the post added, followed by a Yoruba appeal for senior actors not to quarrel.
The comments came in response to a recent video in which Abraham showcased students of her Toyin Abraham Films Academy and promoted her upcoming cinema release, Bestie, scheduled for 16 December.
Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele have previously faced public speculation about a professional rift linked to box-office competition and a reported cold encounter at a film premiere earlier in 2026. Abraham has since stated that she prefers not to dwell on past issues.
