Anti-Tinubu: Man reminds Fayemi of Tinubu’s early support after London return

Fayemi criticism of Tinubu sparks backlash as a pro-Tinubu supporter accuses the former governor of ingratitude and political disloyalty

A supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday publicly criticised former Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi over alleged remarks against the Tinubu administration, accusing the former minister of political ingratitude and disloyalty.

The comments, shared through a strongly worded social media post circulating online in Lagos, Nigeria, referenced Fayemi’s political rise and past relationship with President Tinubu, claiming the Nigerian leader played a pivotal role in supporting Fayemi during the early stages of his political career.

The supporter alleged that Tinubu assisted Fayemi upon his return from London and provided political opportunities that helped him establish connections within Ekiti State politics.

The post further claimed that Tinubu gifted Fayemi a Toyota Land Cruiser to support his engagement with constituents during his early political activities.

The Fayemi criticism of Tinubu debate has intensified in recent days following growing political conversations around the performance of the current administration and internal disagreements within influential circles of the ruling All Progressives Congress.

In the viral statement, the supporter questioned Fayemi’s loyalty and asked how many individuals the former governor had personally mentored or supported politically in return.

The message described Tinubu as a “great man” and insisted that the President would successfully complete his constitutionally permitted tenure despite criticism from opponents and former allies.

The remarks also carried a sharp emotional tone, reflecting widening tensions among political stakeholders as debates continue over governance, party unity and the future direction of the APC ahead of upcoming political contests.

Although Fayemi has not publicly responded to the statement, political observers say the exchange highlights the increasingly vocal divisions emerging within sections of the ruling party.

Analysts note that disagreements among prominent APC figures are becoming more visible as national political alignments continue to evolve.

President Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, has faced both support and criticism over economic reforms, governance policies and party management since the beginning of his administration.
