Femi Adebayo eviction clarified as bank foreclosure, highlighting his continued support for estranged wife and son in Lagos

Nigerian actor and filmmaker Femi Adebayo has clarified the circumstances surrounding the eviction of his estranged wife, Omotayo Sanusi, also known as Iyan Aladuke, from a Lagos property, attributing the action to a bank foreclosure rather than personal neglect.

Mrs Taiwo Abdulmalik, a member of Adebayo’s family, said the actor purchased the property through a bank loan and that repayment issues prompted the bank to initiate recovery proceedings.

She emphasised that Sanusi was aware of the loan arrangement and had prior knowledge of the impending foreclosure months in advance.

After the bank moved to reclaim the property, Adebayo reportedly ensured that Sanusi, her family, and staff were relocated to a short-let apartment, which he fully financed.

Abdulmalik added that Adebayo encouraged his estranged wife to find another residence, promising full financial support regardless of cost.

The family member also disclosed that Adebayo had purchased a parcel of land in 2022, registered in Sanusi’s name as a backup investment.

“It was shocking to him when, shortly after the bank foreclosure, she sold the land and spent the money,” Abdulmalik said.

Addressing allegations of neglect, Abdulmalik stressed that Adebayo continues to provide monthly upkeep for their son and remains actively involved in his care.

She added that he spent nearly $50,000 last year for medical treatment for his son in India, highlighting his ongoing commitment as a father.

Sanusi declined to comment on the matter, describing it as personal.

“It’s a family matter. I have never granted an interview and I don’t think I want to start now. Different information has been spreading online, and people are free to say whatever they like,” she said.

The clarification comes amid social media speculation over Adebayo’s role in the eviction, with family sources emphasising that the actor acted responsibly and ensured the welfare of his former partner and child throughout the process.
