Raheem Okoya says competing commitments have made it difficult to give music the dedication it deserves, but hints at a possible return

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Raheem Okoya, popularly known as Siraheem, has announced his decision to step away from releasing music, saying the demands of his career have become increasingly difficult to balance with his other commitments.

Siraheem, the son of billionaire industrialist Rasaq Okoya, made the announcement on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in a statement shared on his official Instagram page.

The singer described the decision as a difficult but necessary conclusion to a musical chapter that began as a hobby with friends before developing into a professional pursuit.

“My career began simply, music was a hobby I made with my boys as a means of bonding and connection before it was anything else,” Siraheem said.

He recalled the memorable moments that followed, including performing at major events and receiving recognition from artistes he had admired while growing up.

But after several years of pursuing music, Siraheem said maintaining the career alongside his other responsibilities had become increasingly challenging.

“Over the past year, holding that alongside my other commitments has grown harder.

I’ve always believed in giving everything my best and I no longer feel I can give this craft the effort, patience, and dedication it truly deserves,” he said.

Rather than continue without being able to give his music the attention he believes it requires, Siraheem said he had chosen to make a professional exit for the sake of his supporters and colleagues.

“So I owe it to my true fans, and to my colleagues in this industry a professional exit, I have decided to stop putting out new music,” he stated.

The announcement brings an unexpected pause to a career that began professionally around 2022 and produced songs including Bad Bitch Syndrome, Kowope, SOWETO and TRU$T FUND.

Siraheem released his debut project, By The Order Of The City, on May 1, 2026. The eight-track project marked a significant point in his development as an artiste before his latest decision.

Despite stepping away from new releases, Siraheem made clear that his creative ambitions remain intact.

“To my fans the ‘Siraheem music’ era may be closing, but the creative in me is still hungry for new challenges, still reaching. The future stays positive.

I have plans to diversify my creative palette into other fields and I will be back with new ventures,” he said.

The singer also suggested that his departure may not be permanent.

Siraheem revealed that he had spent much of the past year working on what he considered his best material yet and said music continued to provide a therapeutic outlet for him.

“Music still remains therapeutic for me. With time, maybe the album finds its way into the world somehow after all,” he said.

That possibility leaves the door open for previously recorded material to eventually reach listeners, even though he does not currently intend to continue releasing music.

Siraheem ended his message with a similarly open-ended reflection on what might come next.

“Who knows what the future still holds. Never say never,” he said.

He thanked his fans and collaborators, including Mr Fantasy and Mr Miyagi, for their support throughout what he described as an unforgettable period of his life.

For now, Siraheem quits music as an active release-making artiste, but his statement suggests that the end of the current era may be less a final goodbye than a pause while he explores new creative and professional directions.
