The Federal Government has disbursed ₦38.93 billion to 166 public tertiary institutions nationwide under the Needs Assessment Revitalisation Fund.
The intervention, announced on Sunday by the Federal Ministry of Finance, covers 79 universities, 46 polytechnics and 41 colleges of education. The funds are earmarked for approved projects aimed at addressing critical infrastructure shortages and improving teaching and learning facilities.
According to a statement by the ministry’s Head of Media, Efe Ovuakporie, universities received the largest share of ₦28.5 billion. Polytechnics were allocated ₦5.8 billion, while colleges of education received ₦4.7 billion.
Ovuakporie said the funds would enable beneficiary institutions to commence or continue approved projects designed to strengthen their capacity to deliver quality education.
The intervention forms part of the Federal Government’s efforts to address the funding and infrastructure needs of public tertiary institutions. It is also linked to the implementation of measures agreed under the Memorandum of Understanding between the government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).
The ministry noted that effective coordination among relevant agencies and the beneficiary institutions would be essential to ensure the funds translate into tangible improvements in educational infrastructure and institutional capacity.
Members of the public seeking details of the beneficiary institutions and their specific allocations were directed to visit the Federal Ministry of Finance website.
