In a statement, Fintiri described the move as a calculated decision made in the broader interest of Adamawa and its residents, following extensive consultations and careful assessment of the state’s long-term stability and development prospects.
Reflecting on the mandates he received in the 2019 and 2023 elections, the governor highlighted key achievements of his administration, including improvements in security, rehabilitation of roads, schools, hospitals, markets, and housing projects, as well as investments in education, water, and electricity infrastructure.
Fintiri also pointed to initiatives aimed at empowering youths and women, alongside the creation of new chiefdoms, emirates, and districts to promote inclusion and balanced regional development.
“My administration has consistently been guided by consultation, legality and impact in its decision-making process. Recent political developments at the national level, however, made a decisive and strategic realignment necessary,” Fintiri said.
The governor explained that joining the APC would allow Adamawa State to better align with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in social welfare, infrastructure, housing, and inclusive economic growth.
He emphasised that the decision was not driven by personal ambition or political expediency, but by the need to reposition the state within national politics.
Fintiri disclosed that the defection extends to the entire political structure of his administration across all 226 wards and 21 local government areas, including both elected and appointed officials.
He urged supporters to register en masse with the APC, assuring residents that development projects would continue regardless of party affiliation.
