COAS urges firm Operation HADIN KAI vigilance during a visit to Maiduguri, stressing alertness, coordination and sustained pressure on terrorists

According to a statement released on Thursday, the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has issued a firm call for operation hadin kai vigilance as he urged troops in the North-East to remain alert and maintain an aggressive posture in ongoing counterterrorism efforts.

The warning came during his operational assessment visit to the headquarters of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, in Maiduguri, where he reviewed the security landscape and evaluated the force’s effectiveness. Shaibu praised the resilience of personnel but insisted that complacency must be avoided if recent gains are to be preserved.

He told theatre commanders that improved coordination and intelligence sharing were essential to sustaining pressure on terrorist elements.

The Army chief stressed that operational aggressiveness remains a powerful requirement to deny insurgents the ability to regroup or influence communities.

Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Theatre Commander, briefed him on ongoing activities and existing challenges, noting the complex nature of the terrain and the evolving tactics of hostile groups.

Borno State Governor Babagana Zulum also met the COAS during the visit, describing his appointment as the 25th Army chief as well deserved.

He commended the military for drastically reducing insurgency levels and reaffirmed the state’s unwavering commitment to supporting joint security efforts.

In response, Shaibu acknowledged the governor’s backing and reiterated that the Nigerian Army would intensify operations aimed at restoring lasting peace to Borno and the wider North-East.
