Justice Obiora Egwatu of the Federal High Court in Abuja has just fixed 12 noon today to deliver ruling in the bail application filed and argued for the release of the detained 12 aides of Sunday Igboho.
The Judge fixed the time after taking arguments for and against the bail request.
Counsel to the detainees, Pelumi Olajengbesi prayed the Judge to invoke constitutional provisions to admit the suspects on bail on the ground that their liberty was being unjustly trampled upon by the DSS.
He told the Judge that the suspects had been clamped into detention in the past 32 days as against the 2 days allowed by law.
DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo asked the court to allow only 8 out of the 12 suspects to go home.
He begged the court to allow DSS to hold 4 detainees for further interrogation, adding that they will be arraigned upon completion of the investigation.
The DSS counsel tendered an expired detention order earlier obtained to detain them for 14 days and was admitted by the court.
At the time of this report, the detainees who were looking worried are expecting what may become their fate in the ruling.
Meanwhile, the convener of “Revolution Now” movement, Sowore is attempting to use the stand-down of the court ruling to speak with the detainees amid tight security by fully armed stern-looking DSS operatives.
