Senator Andy Uba’s involvement in the Governorship Election conducted in Anambra State on November 6, this year, has been declared null and void by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The Judge ruled on Monday that Uba was never a candidate in the election since he came from an unlawfully organized primary election by the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Justice Ekwo, the plaintiff, George Moghalu, was successful in demonstrating that the APC did not have a genuine primary election from which Uba claimed to have emerged as the party’s candidate.
The judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) immediate removal of Uba’s name from its list of candidates in the election, and the APC to refund Moghalu the sum of N22.5 million, which he paid for expression of interest and nomination forms because the party failed to hold a valid primary.
