Spanish side Barcelona have reportedly completed the signing of Cameroonian midfielder Franck Angong and the 18-year-old will start his career with the Catalans’ youth side.

Barcelona failed to retain their Spanish La Liga title for the 2019/20 season losing the crown to Real Madrid, and the club’s chiefs have been planning to bolster their squad for next season.

According to the report on Express UK citing Spanish newspaper Sport, Franck Angong has already started training with his teammates at Barcelona second team.

Angong adds some much-needed physicality to Barcelona midfield.

He tends to play as the defensive role and will rotate with Alex Rico who is expected to be first-choice next season.

Angong has played most of his time playing for Dominican Republic side Cibao FC and coached by Albert Benaiges.

Last two years, he was at Andres Iniesta’s Vissel Kobe and the former Barcelona star was said to have recommended him to Catalan chiefs.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are currently planning for their Champions League quarterfinal game against Bayern Munich which will be a tough tie.

Bayern Munich defeated Chelsea home and away to reach this stage, while Barcelona sent Napoli out of the Champions League.

Barcelona coach Setien is aware that winning the Champions League is the only thing that will save his job this month.
