Nwaiwu Transfer Interest intensifies as PSG, Leverkusen and Leeds track the Wolfsberger defender after standout Austrian performances.

Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has attracted mounting Nwaiwu Transfer Interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Bayer Leverkusen and Leeds United after an impressive run of form with Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger, according to reports monitored across Europe.

The 22-year-old, who joined Wolfsberger from Heartland FC in 2024, has quickly cemented his place as a key figure in the club’s back line.

His performances have drawn particular attention from France, with Top Mercato reporting enquiries from Olympique Marseille, RC Lens, Lille and RC Strasbourg, alongside a firm expression of interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Sources cited by the French outlet added that his appeal extends beyond Ligue 1.

Bayer Leverkusen and Leeds United are also monitoring him closely as they assess potential reinforcements ahead of the winter transfer window.

Chibuike Nwaiwu has featured in 11 league matches this season, completing 90 minutes in ten of them.

While naturally a central defender with 45 appearances in the role, he has shown notable versatility, operating 28 times as a defensive midfielder and 18 times in central midfield.

Standing at 6ft 4in, he brings a combination of aerial strength and physical presence suited to the demands of English football.

The CIES Football Observatory recently ranked him 37th among the world’s top 50 defenders in ground duels, placing him ahead of established names such as Marc Cucurella.

His blend of power and technical competence has made him a compelling target for clubs seeking defensive reliability with long-term potential.

Leeds United, positioned 18th in the Premier League after six defeats in their last eight games, are believed to view Nwaiwu as a fitting addition to Daniel Farke’s recruitment profile.

Leeds United News reported that his physical style aligns with the attributes prioritised by the head coach, who signed similarly imposing players including Anton Stach, Lukas Nmecha and Dominic Calvert-Lewin during the summer window.

Despite not yet making his senior international debut and being omitted from Eric Chelle’s provisional Africa Cup of Nations squad, Chibuike Nwaiwu’s rapid progression in Austria suggests his rise is far from complete.

With competition from PSG, Bayer Leverkusen and Leeds United intensifying, the race for his signature may become one of the winter’s most closely watched transfer battles.
