Esther Egbuhama was taken into custody on Sunday, April 19, 2026, following what police described as a dramatic and intelligence-led operation targeting suspected illicit activities at the premises located in Manso Watreso.
The arrest forms part of ongoing enforcement efforts by the Ghana Police Service to curb criminal operations in the area.
According to information shared by GhanaWeb and confirmed in a police statement issued on Monday, April 20, 2026, officers acted on credible intelligence before storming the facility.
The operation led to the arrest of Egbuhama at the scene, while several other individuals allegedly linked to the activity fled before security personnel arrived.
The suspect was subsequently moved to the Manso Nkwanta Police Station, where she is assisting investigators as enquiries continue into the alleged operation.
A statement from the police indicated that the raid was part of a broader crackdown on suspected illegal establishments within the jurisdiction.
Authorities also confirmed that evidence gathered at the scene is being reviewed as part of the investigation.
“The police picked up intelligence on the activities going on at the place and mounted the operation to stop the crime being perpetrated there and arrest the culprit for the necessary action,” the statement read.
It further noted that accomplices believed to be connected to the alleged operation managed to escape during the raid.
The Ashanti South Regional Police Command reiterated that operating a brothel remains a criminal offence under Section 277 of the Criminal Offences Act, as amended by N.L.C.D 398, Paragraph 16.
