The company has begun deploying new base stations across additional locations, significantly strengthening its network capacity.
With more than 150 new 4G LTE sites currently under deployment and thousands already rolled out this year, subscribers can expect faster data speeds and more reliable coverage.
“These efforts are all about delivering best-in-class services to our customers,” a Globacom official said.
“We are investing heavily to guarantee improved service delivery and greater reliability, even if it means relocating infrastructure at high cost.”
A major component of the upgrade involves relocating fibre cables disrupted by roadworks in areas such as Auchi-Okene, Benin-Ekpoma, and Minna-Abuja.
In these locations, uncoordinated construction activity has damaged fibre routes, impacting service quality.
Globacom responded by launching relocation efforts to restore and protect its infrastructure.
The telco has also invested in densification strategies in fast-growing areas to boost both voice and data quality.
These moves indicate a powerful commitment to meeting customer demands and improving digital inclusion nationwide.
Beyond network rollout, Globacom network upgrade efforts include enhancements to its backhaul and core networks.
The company is expanding microwave and fibre capacities while upgrading core elements to ensure seamless performance.
These enhancements work in tandem to futureproof the network and support emerging technology needs.
In addition to technical upgrades, Globacom is expanding hybrid power systems across its sites.
Shifting from generators to battery-powered alternatives reduces carbon emissions and supports environmental sustainability goals, reflecting the company’s commitment to a greener footprint.
Looking ahead, over 1,000 new sites are scheduled to be added within the next year.
Many will support LTE, further cementing the operator’s position as a leading provider of high-speed data services.
Fibre links to critical hub sites will also be extended, enabling robust and reliable delivery across regions.
However, the company is still battling ongoing sabotage of its equipment.
Despite federal designation of telecom assets as critical infrastructure, Globacom urges stakeholders to take bolder steps to stop vandalism and deliberate network disruptions.
“These ones are not even birds of a feather; they are fair-weather friends! Treachery brought them together; in the fullness of time the same treachery will scatter them!”
The company remains confident that its strategic investments and sustainable initiatives will soon translate into noticeably better service for all users.
