Governor Soludo celebrates Dame Virgy Etiaba at 83, praising her trailblazing leadership and lifelong commitment to education and women’s empowerment
Governor Soludo has congratulated Dame (Dr) Virgy Etiaba, former Governor of Anambra State, on the occasion of her 83rd birthday, describing her as a trailblazer whose life and leadership continue to inspire generations.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the Anambra governor lauded Dame Etiaba for her remarkable service as Nigeria’s first female state governor, noting that her tenure not only paved the way for women in leadership but also left an enduring mark on Anambra’s political and social development.
Governor Soludo said Dame Etiaba’s dedication, vision, and resilience have consistently demonstrated that true leadership transcends gender, adding that her commitment to education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment has positively transformed many lives across the state.
“Beyond her historic role as governor, Dame Etiaba’s passion for community development and her selfless contributions to nation-building remain deeply appreciated,” Soludo stated.
