A father of four, Kamadioye Krama, has been shot dead by gunmen in Emulation community, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State, prompting a police investigation into the killing.

The incident occurred at about 8 p.m. on Friday while residents were making preparations for the coronation of a community stakeholder, identified as Mr ThankGod. The circumstances surrounding the attack are yet to be fully established.

Speaking on behalf of the family, the deceased’s elder brother, Monday Krama, said Kamadioye had returned from his farm, visited a barbing salon, and later went to the community square where youths were arranging canopies ahead of the ceremony.

According to him, gunmen suddenly emerged and opened fire, fatally shooting his brother before fleeing the scene. He dismissed reports suggesting the gathering was political, insisting it was solely for preparations for the coronation event.

“It was not a political gathering. My brother was just there standing and watching as the youths were arranging canopies for the coronation,” Monday Krama said.

The family has demanded justice and called on security agencies to identify and prosecute those responsible for the killing. An official complaint has already been lodged at the Abua/Odual Police Division.

Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Blessing Agabe, said detectives had commenced an investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

“Yes, I can confirm the incident. Investigation is ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death of the victim and determine what led to the unfortunate incident,” Agabe said.

The police assured residents that efforts were underway to apprehend the perpetrators, while the family continues to mourn the loss of Kamadioye Krama, who is survived by his wife and four children.
