The popular Yoruba proverb that one does not allow own son get devoured by tiger, no matter how stubborn the child is no longer hold true in Ekiti, southwest Nigeria.
A mild drama occurred at an isolation centre in the state, when a father refused to admit his son, Babafemi, into his house and insisted that the government of Ekiti State should isolate him for fourteen days.
Recall that the governor has placed a lockdown on intra-state movement to reduce the spread of the deadly coronavirus.
According to the father in a video released on social media, he had already informed his son not to travel down from Lagos.
“When he got to Abeokuta and called to inform me about his journey, I told him straight away to return back to Lagos because of the COVID-19 virus,” he said, “I don’t want him to come and infect us here in Ekiti.”
Despite all the pleas by the narrator, who was suspected to by a health worker, that the son has been certified okay and he should be allowed to follow him, the dad remained adamant.
