As many celebrated the new year in happiness full of optimism for days ahead, the stories of others were are akin to that of horror movie.

For Oluwakemi Badare, the latter was the case as it was alleged that the mum of two murdered her younger son, King, by drowning him in the bath on January 2, 2021 in a hilly suburb of Plumstead, United Kingdom.

According to a source close to the family, Oluwakemi suffered from mental health issues in the past.

In 2017, she was sanctioned for putting him in hot water, which led to social services taking her son and remanded her in a psychiatric hospital for a year and 2 months.

The sad neighbours claimed that no one saw this coming.

Though Oluwakemi is now in prison for murder of the poor boy, it was believed that if social services had not returned him to her, the boy would still be alive.

“Unfortunately, Oluwakemi will now have to live with the fact that she killed her own son. In her sane moments, she will never forget or forgive herself.

“Her husband and older son are far away in Nigeria. If only they had known that her mental health was that bad, things could have been different. King could have been protected from the one who loved him more than anyone but would turn out to be the one to make short life due to no fault of her own.

“Depression is real. Rest in perfect peace little one. You were once Mummy’s King,” the source wrote.
