Yemen’s Iran-backed Huthi rebels claimed responsibility for launching a “Palestine 2” hypersonic ballistic missile targeting Ben Gurion airport, in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza.
The Israeli military confirmed the incident, stating via social media platform X that its air force had successfully intercepted a missile fired from Yemen. No damage or casualties were reported at the airport.
This latest strike underscores a growing pattern of Huthi aggression since the Gaza conflict erupted on October 7, 2023.
The rebels have launched multiple drones and missiles toward Israel, though nearly all have been intercepted. In retaliation, Israeli forces have carried out airstrikes on Huthi-controlled sites in Yemen.
The Huthis have also intensified attacks on commercial vessels in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, claiming links to Israel—prompting U.S.-led coalition strikes.
